GPN Extends its Reach to Iceland
Truenorth Brings Commercial and Feature Experience to Partnership
LOS ANGELES – Global Production Network (GPN) has signed Truenorth to an exclusive North American representation deal, adding a premier location destination to its growing roster of countries.
Truenorth’s Executive Producer Leifur B. Dagfinnsson has been in the film business since he was 18 years old. He worked his way up the production ladder and spent 10 years as an Assistant Director traveling the world with a number of well-known directors including Agust Baldursson, Tony Kaye, John Lloyd and Kevin Thomas. After a stint as Executive Producer at Sagafilm Productions in Iceland, Leifur opened Truenorth in the summer of 2003 with Co-Executive Producers Arni Pall Hansson and Helga Margret.
During the past few years, Truenorth has worked with a wide range of clients from the US and Europe. They service spot work continuously and host a major feature project once every year or two. Their most recent film credit is Clint Eastwood’s “Flag of our Fathers” produced by Warner Brothers, Dreamworks and Malpaso. In the world of commercials, Truenorth has worked with Partizan (UK and France), Aero Film (US), Exposure/HSI (UK), RSA (US), Thomas/Thomas (UK) and Hungry Man (US), among others.
While the unique landscape in Iceland is a main draw for the international filmmaker, what is less known is that it’s a country with numerous landscapes that replicate many other continents. Since Iceland is a small nation, the process of shooting is very straightforward, all locations are easily accessible and crews are highly skilled, hardworking and English speaking.
“We are joining GPN because we like their attitude and approach, and appreciate the company’s direct contact to clients,” says Dagfinnsson, “Being the GPN company in Iceland is great for us. We look forward to new opportunities and providing GPN’s clients a wonderful filmmaking experience in Iceland.”
“Truenorth has a great team and a very impressive track record for a young company,” says Harry Tracosas, GPN Founder and President. “Leifur, Arni and their staff are born and bred filmmakers. Their love of the business and their dedication to excellence can literally be seen on their reel. I look forward to introducing them to our clients.”
