GPN Links with Key Partner in Spain
The Circus is a young company with Spanish and English roots
LOS ANGELES – Global Production Network (GPN) has signed The Circus to an exclusive North American representation deal, adding a beloved country to its European presence.
Executive Producer, Simon Burge, started The Circus after 6 years at the helm of Bee’s Pictures. Prior to this, working in London, Burge moved quickly up the ladder through the camera department and shot all over the world with many top directors including Barry Kinsman, Ridley and Tony Scott, Roger Lyon, and Michael Seresin. While working in Spain he fell in love, married and started a family. He then took on the role of producer when he started Bee’s Pictures in 1993 where he produced over 200 projects in Spain and Cuba. Burge opened The Circus in 2003. He named the company after Dr. Suess’ classic, If I Ran The Circus.
During the past few years, The Circus has produced projects on the mainland of Spain and in the Balearic and Canary Islands for many US and European clients. There are a myriad of reasons that Spain is attractive to the international filmmaker that include the temperate to tropical weather conditions, locations that range from old monuments to futuristic architecture and a multi-n talent pool, as well as Flamenco music, bullfights, beaches and blue skies.
The Circus has done projects for DeBeers, Vodafone, Grolsch, Ford, Smirnoff, Discovery Channel, Cadillac and UPS, among others, and for well-known production companies including RSA London, Pagan, Brave Films, Form and Saville Productions.
“GPN has introduced us into the mix on many projects recently which is how we have developed the relationship that we are now formalizing.“ says Burge. “We look forward to continuing to play the bidding game and the chance to make Spain the ideal film destination for GPN’s clients.”
“Spain’s regions have very different climates, terrains and personalities, which makes it a country that has a tremendous amount to offer,” says Harry Tracosas, GPN Founder and President. “And Simon knows Spain inside and out, and he’s a great idea man. His knowledge and experience makes The Circus the ideal GPN partner.”
