Relentless by Nature: Milk & Honey Productions Join the GPN Family

From Dreamer to Director

Tomas’ journey reads like the cinematic stories he has helped bring to life. Born in Czechoslovakia, he immigrated to the United States in 1987, seeking political asylum and fleeing from the confines of a life behind the Iron Curtain. With limited resources but endless determination, he embarked on a journey that would define his life.

His love affair with film began early, at age 11, when he worked as an extra in the 1968 MGM movie The Bridge at Remagen. Standing on set, watching the cameraman at work, he knew instantly what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. That moment of clarity set him on a path that would one day intersect with GPN’s global network of like-minded creatives.

After arriving in New York, Tomas moved to Houston and then, inevitably, to Los Angeles, where opportunity awaited. He began at the influential Propaganda Films, home to some of the era’s most renowned directors and cinematographers. There, as a cameraman, he learned technical skills, formed imporant connections and cultivated an eye for the craft of filmmaking.

A turning point came when Propaganda sent him on assignment to Prague for a commercial shoot with Claudia Schiffer. The experience reawakened his connection to his home country and made him realize how uniquely positioned he was to bridge the film worlds of Hollywood and Eastern Europe. This realization led him to found Milk & Honey Films.

Building Milk & Honey and Beyond

In 1995, Tomas founded Milk & Honey Films, opening offices in Prague and Los Angeles to serve both European and American markets. What began as a small, agile company quickly expanded, establishing offices in London, Moscow, Mexico City, Montreal, Buenos Aires, South Africa, and Australia. Each expansion reflected Tomas’ innate ability to connect creative teams across continents, which is a principle that aligns naturally with GPN’s global production model.

Over the years, Tomas witnessed the commercial film industry evolve at breathtaking speed- from the rise of visual effects to the complete digitalization of production workflows. Yet through it all, his motivation has never been financial, but rather a genuine love for the craft. He believes that even as technology accelerates, the essential human need for story remains constant. As he often says, “The appetite for good stories hasn’t gone away, it’s just harder to tell them in less time.”

The early 2000s brought one of Milk & Honey’s greatest challenges. The dot-com bubble burst and left many production companies struggling. Tomas was forced to downsize, closing several international offices. But he refused to quit. With foresight and determination, qualities GPN holds in high regard, he kept the Los Angeles and Prague operations running.

In 2000, just before the collapse, he founded Prague Studios, which today stands as the largest production hub in Prague and a cornerstone of GPN’s Central European network. The studio has hosted countless commercial and feature film productions, including large-scale projects. It is currently in the fourth season of Foundation, a Skydance/Apple series.

Since then, Milk & Honey has rebuilt itself into an international company with a durable reputation for quality and collaboration. Now, under GPN’s umbrella, it operates from Los Angeles, New York, Prague, and Budapest, with 25 full-time employees and a global network of trusted freelancers and partners.

Tomas’ daughter Linda has stepped into a leadership role as Executive Producer, continuing the family legacy. She oversees the U.S. office while taking an active role in Prague, infusing the company with fresh energy and a forward-looking perspective. Her leadership within both Milk & Honey and the wider GPN community marks a new chapter- one where the next generation slowly takes the reins and guides the industry in a new direction.

The Heart of the Work

Tomas’ philosophy remains simple- film is a people business. Despite the surge of automation and AI integration into creative workflows, he insists that no technology can replicate the emotional intelligence, intuition, and trust that define great storytelling. This belief lies at the heart of both GPN’s mission and Milk & Honey’s enduring success.

He admits the business is not for the faint of heart. The long hours, unpredictable conditions, and intricate coordination required in high-end production can take their toll. But for Tomas, it’s never been an option to give up. “Film isn’t something I do,” he says. “It’s who I am.”

To stay grounded, Tomas starts each morning with an hour-long swim in the ocean. This is a ritual that helps him find calm, focus, and balance before the rush of the day begins. Sometimes, when ideas stall or stress builds, he returns to the water midday to clear his thoughts. This quiet discipline has become his secret to endurance in an industry that rarely pauses.

When asked what advice he would give to young filmmakers entering the GPN network, Tomas doesn’t hesitate: “Be relentless. Be deeply kind toward others. And love this business fully, because it will test you every step of the way.”

It’s advice that rings true not only for the next generation, but for anyone who has chosen the creative path. Through his work, Tomas continues to prove that storytelling, at its core, is about people meeting across time and place to share something real, and in that belief, GPN and Milk & Honey remain perfectly aligned
